Trot On Inn Picton
About Us
We have a lifestyle block on the outskirts of Picton where we run a few sheep, cats, dog, goldfish, and have my own miniature horses. We take great pride in our property always looking for ways to make improvements.
I have always been passionate about animals and was lucky enough to own my first pony when I was 8 years old and attended Pony Club the odd show and tried my hand at hunting which I really loved but above all, I rode for the enjoyment of riding and spending time with my horses. We moved to this property 3 years ago and had a vision so the process of tidying it up and a lot of hard work began. It is now our little piece of paradise.
One night the phone rang, a transport company gave my number to some people coming off the Ferry as they needed a place for their horse for the night. Of course, I did not have the facilities I do now but I said yes and provided them a yard I had made for my own horses so their boy could have a dry warm night out of the storm. I thought wow this could really help people traveling with horses on long trips or those times when the Ferries are delayed/cancelled due to bad weather.
Traveling between the North and South Island for either shows, rodeos, moving house etc can be a very long and tiring trip so being only 8 minutes from the Ferry can certainly be a great advantage.
